Rob joined the Webb Martin Consulting team in January 2002 and is a principal of the firm. A CPA with 20 years tax experience, including 6 years within the ATO in various audit and advising divisions, and 2 years on the NTAA Hotline has enabled Rob to accumulate a high level of technical knowledge across a broad range of tax issues including income tax, CGT, superannuation and FBT.
Rob provides advice to accountants, corporates and non-profits on all sorts of income tax, CGT, superannuation and FBT issues ranging from deductibility of car expenses through to off-shore structuring.
In addition to “traditional” advice Rob plays an active part in undertaking independent FBT reviews for employers. Further, and as a result of the ever increasing compliance activities of the ATO, Rob has been actively involved in assisting taxpayers subject to ATO reviews including AAT representation.
Rob has prepared numerous private binding ruling applications on behalf of taxpayers and has lodged many an objection against amended assessments and associated penalties as well as GIC remission requests.
The ever growing global expansion of Australian businesses overseas has seen Rob more involved in advising on international tax issues including: structuring for offshore trading activities, thin capitalisation, residency issues and expatriate tax. Rob advises both domestic taxpayers venturing off-shore as well as non-resident entities wishing to operate in Australia.
Rob is very laid back and is easily accessible to clients. Outside of work Rob enjoys martial arts and is a keen guitar player.
